it you could get a brand new S2K for say $28, hypothetically,
man, how could you resist...I know the type r is rare, but dang, for less than $4K more...whew!! Convertible, there are mods out there...hmmmmm....50/50 weight dist. (almost)...RWD...but I love the R!!

For 28k thats REALLY cheap. If I could I would keep the R and buy the S2k.

 

.....then I'd say if that's the case and you want to justify it with performance:

Consider a $17k rx7 tt from 93 up in r1 or r2 trim...

s2k is nice, but there are other cars with greater whp, handle better, and don't have a honda badge on them...

I'll take a nsx for $28k anyday... You might even get luck and find a '98 nsx for $28k at auction...

 

I know, but I already have a winter beater, so this would only be a second car.
Gosh...dang tempting...volks might transfer over (16") I don't know about the Recaros....hmmm..whew!...my only worry would be an S2K R coming out...but other than that.

ok, here's something to consider:

mods on the s2k are more expensive. It's not that much faster stock. Less aftermarket support because it's a newer platform. Prolly gonna get a faster one in a year or two... even comptech sc'd s2k's run high 13's... Higher production #'s = more common... 2 seater. No back seat or much trunk space.

I guarantee you that you'll still be dreaming of your R if you get rid of it...

 

I know that's the thing...you don't know how much you'll miss it until it's gone...but by then it's toooo darn late, especially with an R!
Hmmm...I guess maybe I should have gotten the Yellow R...I have a craving for a flashy car...the yellow S2 with a carbon fiber hood would look darn nice in the garage! Dang. The main downside IS mods....all the support is HERE on this board for Type R's, but S2 is old men (mostly) who don't mod. And what are mods so far, exhaust, man, anyone can put those on! I want Toda Cams, etc.! (I know...the supercharger...). I don't need pracitcality, just something that rocks.

So, I was planning on fully building the R, NA, we all know what that would cost. Top of the line stuff, best headers, best exhaust, best cams, etc..tuning...coilovers...it all adds up..Or S2K, few mods, ahhh...nevermind, the debate is too long, it's all taste. Sometimes I feel the black R doesn't cut it. It's just that I'm at the point where I don't have enough in the car to Not justify the switch.

Troy, remember that the s2k's production numbers will cause many more of them to be bought so if you're considering a used s2k right now you can always buy a used s2k later...

Finding an itr with a history that you know about is not so certain.

Why don't you make a deal with yourself? If the s2k type R comes out, then and only then will you trade up.

Besides, you always lose when you trade up/ in or refinance a new loan it seems... There are other things to consider like insurance and how much that mugen cf hard top will cost.

I'd like one too, but I'll never sacrifice the R for one.

Now as a second car that might be nice...

Actually, if you live in a warm climate, S2000 is a great choice. Here's why.

240HP and gut out the car down to 2400lbs. Entirely possible and it would kick most modded ITR's ***. (realistically, I've never seen a brand new S2K for $28k.)

As I have said before time and time again... only buying S2000 if I can have <u>both</u> ITR and S2000. Not either or. This is not to say that S2K is bad... I like it's linear VTEC response and 9k rpm, but ITR is a cult classic that will be featured in SpeedVision 50 years from now.

 

low resale value or not, the s2k is more fun than the R. sorry. can't beat that RWD power slide with the top down.

oh, and chicks dig it a LOT more.

 

If that was the deciding factor, Miata does just fine with extra $$$ in the pocket.

Damn, for $28k a new s2k would be nice. But I can't afford it - and I'm already paying for my $28k itr (mods included). Lol.

Well, ebrake drifting in the beater fulfills that need currently.

I intend to pick up an FD sooner or later as a daily driver and then I'll kick your s2k driving asses all over the place! lol

autox? i am faster in the s2k than i was in the R. i know this from comparing my times to other people's times, e.g. david fauth. it took a long time to readjust for RWD tho. btw, fauth drove an s2k once for fun and kicked the **** out of everyone in AS.

It's like a new car to me now. haha As for my Miata comment, the 90-93 are better than the current gens, but I would only drive one on the track and never on the streets as I've heard too many negative comments from girls about guys would drive them. hehe

Mountain bikes in an R!! Shame on you, I'm sure you meant race tires or something..you were just thinking about your CRV or something....that is one big thing though...how to get tires to the track and other things....guess I'll have
