A T25 is the stock turbo on the 2nd gen turbo eclipse. IT is set waaay higher than 8psi. I think its around 14 maybe a lil less (correct me if I'm wrong). But it IS a SMALL turbo, so your ZC should be able to handle it with no problem, just make sure to get it tuned or you will end up blowing your motor sooner than you think.

Last I checked they boost 8-10 psi... the raised boost levels you speak of are from the DSM's computer. It has boost control.

I guess if you already have it then use it for now. Later on you can change out for a TD04. The TD04 is the same turbo that Greddy uses and has the same flange as te T25.

From what I read about the T25, it's a junky turbo. It spools up too quick so your high reving Honda engine won't make much power up top.

Anyway - maybe look into TurboEdit. It's good stuff and you will have all sorts of options and damn good engine management for your turbo. It's inexpensive when you compare it to the big name options like Zydene, Hondata....etc.

8 psi daily should be no problem.

that turbo will work fine. it is a little small and it can cause a check engine light from over boost, but it will work for the most part. ive been running it for about a year and it was holding up ok. my timing belt just broke so im out of a car for the time being but the timing belt was a lack of maintenence. If you could try to get the 14b and youll be much more pleased.
hope this helps

Overboost occurs when the wastegate doesn't open or close properly. It will cause the turbo to spin faster than you want it to. it pushes more air into your engine and raises temperatures. we all know hondas are not made of iron so eventually the rods will give or you will melt a piston. Basically, the engine breaks from the excessive stress.

I thought the ZC rods weren't very strong and pushing 8-10 psi was like setting a bowling ball ontop of a pencil. And would you want to push that much being that DOHC ZC's have a ~9.5:1 CR? - Darrell

I have been looking into all this for months now, setting everything up for my DOHC ZC swap and a soon there after, turbo add-on. And everything i have read has pointed me in the direction of this

1)if the engine is in good condition it can handle 8-10 psi daily with no problem if everything is taken care of
2)an abused engine will give out soon, and the oil will need to be changed more often than the typical 3 month rule

and thats about it for what i know just from reading

do you have to change the oil faster than the 3month rule if you got a strong motor? or if its just for the weak motors?

yeah thats what i thought, thats why i think ive heard that they can handle about 200whp but thats gettin risky if its a daily driver. my turbo has an internal wastegate and according to hmt its set at 8psi(t-25) so that should be safe?

it sounds like over kill but either get a external wastegate or restrict the exhaust or something. im not sure if its only me or what but if i floor it, i can easily boost over 11 psi. enough at least to cause a check engine. i have a 2.5 turbo back with custom external dump off the internal wastgate.
