Default slow power windows

The power windows in my 94 Accord take 4-ever to come up. The driver side one is the worst. But all of them go pretty slow. This has been going on since I bought the car 2.5 yrs ago. Could this be an alternator prob? Batery prob? Relay prob? If it was an alternator prob, wouldn't it have died by now?

All Accord power windows are slower then other car's (at least that is what I have observed in my 2 Accords). My '97's windows are especially slow but I've never worried about it. What's the hurry? Its better then cranking it IMO

IMO, it is not the alternator or the battery. More than likely, the relay needs replaced... grab the ol' Chiltons and find the resistance of pin combos... using an alligator clip and needle you will not even have to pull it. Resistance drops voltage, increasing amp draw which slows function as the actuator motor over-speeds, losing torgue. The driver window is first in series if it is a dual switch, ie one on the door, one for front and rear, one for all... either way, the controls route through the switch either on the center console or the driver's door... since that is then a parellell feed, the loss is existing, already, and a bad relay accentuates the problem. Also, though unusual, the switch itself can build resistance, which is tested the same way if it is going bad.

If the relay is the problem, I suggest replacing the driver actuator anyway if it is running really, really slow. If you replace the relay with a bad actuator (also tested with ohms) you can drain the voltage going to the other motors. If the relay tests fine, replace the slowest actuator motor (driver, according to you) after testing to keep from blowing the others by diminishing voltage which increases amps that starves the motor, yadda yadda yadda, LOL. You get the idea.

Would you let me know if this helps, please? If you need the ohm numbers, email me and I can dig them up for you, but include all the info.

before you go spending a lot of money, spend a lil bit of money and buy a can of Silicone Spray and spray the grooves that the window goes up and down by. then turn the car on and roll the windows up and down a few times. Then spray the grooves again and roll the windows up and down a few time again, and they should go up a lil bit faster. If that doesnt work, then you will need other parts. good luck

go to honda parts department and buy a can of silicone spray it helps alot but eventually they will get slow again but it beats changing the power window motors...

If you want a more lasting effect take off the door panel and spray the track that the window rollers actually operate in

definately agree with that, not disagreeing one bit, BUT you can do what i said and repeat the process a few times and that should replace all the work of taking the door panels off.

my '94 ex had the same problem, sometimes the driver side window gets stuck... but luckily some drunk lady in a yukon smashed into it from behind (she kicked my cars butt) and i got a 2002 ex and the power windows are somewhat faster.

yah, my 95 'cord-ex is the same way, slow as hell and drivers side even slower. passengers and i always have a window race and i never win. i have had the front windows smashed after a brake-in both actuators relays were replaced...and they still run just as slow. maybe its an old accord thing, i dont know.
nother comment of mine is that for some reason, the damn vtec has a mind of its own. it kicks in "some" of the time and when it doesn't, rpms are hangen out at about 5.5k before the car downshifts (yah, shes an automatic, maybe thats my prob). it mostly happens when i have more weight in the car but that shouldnt have that much of an effect on it. sprk plugs are new...and fule injctn is spotless, could it be a computer prob?

yall are in the same boat as i am. my passenger side window is slow as hell and my best friend and i always have a race between who's window goes up the fastest. i guess my problem is the rubber lining that is causing the slowness since it has a rip along its side. took it to a car window place and replaced the motor couple times due to the resistance causing the motor to break down. you can always try replacing the rubber liner but from the dealer, it costs way too much.

I know a solution. Go to a BMW Dealer (GASP!) and get special rubber treatment to apply to the rubber window seals. This same problem is very common on e36's and the BMW dealer will know exactly what you're talking about..

I think its around $12 or so.
