Default bearings are a bitch...help me

i just got done getting all the parts i needed for my engine rebuild and all the machine work is done. among these new parts are brand new honda oem bearings, which the honda dealership and i got by deciphering the numbers and letters from the block and crank. i also asked the machine shop the size of the crankshaft so that i could get the proper bearings. they told me that the crankshaft was standard and that he measured it with a micrometer so i figured i should go with the same factory colors. but upon installing and checking the clearances of these bearings with a plastigauge, i found that there is waaaay to much oil clearance, so i am assuming that the bearings are too big and that i need to go a size thicker.

i need some help though. why isnt my crankshaft the same size as it was? why dont these bearings fit? who is responsible for getting new bearings: me or the machine shop??

It wouldn't be the first time a Honda dealership got digets/parts wrong.

Bottom line is that they don't give a ****. Call another dealer and cross reference the numbers for those bearings and your same crank.

If that fails measure your main journals and match an appropriately sized bearing to it.

Sounds like you are going about it right, double checking where no one else will.
