TEIN SS-P for CR-X... (so very nice) - damper settings questions
I just finished installing my TEIN SS-P's on my CR-X, and boy they are beautiful. They just came out, so I don't know how many of you guys with EF's that have them too, but I was wondering what you guys are setting your damper at. I have mine at 2 at the front, 4 in the back, and it's a world of a difference vs my old setup (tokico blues with eibach sportlines). I'll be getting an EDFC next week, so I'll have 3 presets to play with too. The pillowballs look really well made, but I'm dissapointed that it doesn't control camber like some of the others. If anybody has any good damper settings, post it here please!
It can't adjust camber with that suspension. You need a camber kit.
It does not say anywhere that the EDFC system can be used. So I would say no it can't. Unless there is some sort of modification that can be done to make the system work.

I have a camber kit already, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust with the pillowballs.
The EDFC is usable with the SS-P's. The pillowball mounts allow for the use of it, it says so on the TEIN site, and I spoke with them directly about it, that's why I waited for the SS-P set. You can't use it on the SS though

compared to a tokico blue/eibach sportline combination, it's very comfortable.

how are you going to get the front units to clear the hood?

with the pillowball mounts it's recessed and the the top of the piston doesnt come up as high. These were developed with the full intention of being able to use the EDFC. For added assurance I have an SiR hood that may give a bit more clearance.
I'll post pics when I get them in to show you guys.

I'll try to get pics this week, but the difference is in having pillowballs on all four struts, where normal SS's have no pillowball mounts. The JDM SS-P's only have pillows on front struts, so these were made for 89-91 EF chassis in the US exclusively, and they have pillows on the rear as well, thus being superior. Well worth the wait, I've been waiting for a year now, they've been listed on the website for a year as "under development".
The pillowball mounts are nicely made too, machined billet aluminum, gold in color. Looks so much better than using stock rubber mounts.

thats cool i didnt ever know about those... i wonder if the pillowball will work on older model SS's.
the only cars that come with camber plates are cars w/ a Mcphearson type suspension (240's, corolla's etc etc)

I'm sure they do, but you'd have to contact tein about getting them separately. I figured the adjustable camber pillowball mounts were for mcphearsons, not double wishbone suspensions. but it would have been nice because my camber kit only adjusts slightly, I still have negative camber...

Neg camber makes your car handle why spend all that money on suspension just to worry about going back to 0 camber.

Yeah, but tires get expensive, i really rip around, and I hate it when my tires start showing cord after 2 years.

If it takes you 2 years to cord your tires, you aren't driving hard enough.
Besides, toe kills tires. Camber can be compensated for by methodical rotation.

Yeah pics would be great to see how it all fits and especially how high the frt EFDC is compared to the underside of hood

It's pretty low, it doesn't get any higher than the hump next to the strut tower mounts. I'm sure you could clear it without having a SiR hood.
