Battery Replacement
oem would be rather expensive...IMO get a regular battery like energizer or whatever is at your local vatozone or checker.
If you want to save some weight you can go with a smaller battery (not recommened if you live in a cold enviornment due to cranking amps (CA) and cold cranking amps (CCA) )

Once car is started, battery has no purpose other than being part of the circuit of electricity, no performance gains or anything from that optima crap. Although, heard they last a damn long time.....

The question wasn't about performance gains, or saving weight, and nor was it about how expensive/cheap, it was
"is there any particular battery that is better than the rest?"
Frankly, the answer is Honda OEM.

You might want to review battery evaluations, like at consumerreports.org. Not all batteries are the same. A lot depends on what you need and what part of the country you live in. Do you live in cold temps, hot temps, etc. Another thing to look for is warranty. I went for a Sear Diehard with a 100-month warranty.
62 dollars for a damn oem battery? wow thats a rip...
i paid for my red top 110 out the door... but i bet mine makes up for it with cranking amps and dry cell, no corrossion, and lifespan.
you get what you pay for. optima IS better than oem...

Because, its one part of your car that if you save a few bucks and get a crappy product it could leave you stranded in the desert. Ever hear the words "penny wise and pound foolish"? or about the guy who would "step over a dollar to pick up a dime"? That's a person who thinks he's saving money but creates the weakest link in the whole vehicle. Save money on aftermarket wiper blades, not batteries. As you can see, the Honda OEM LASTED 8 YEARS!!! That's been my experience too.

I can agree somewhat on your opinion, but I have had my energizer battery for nearly 5 years and no problems, cost me 35 dollars I believe.
I don't think energizer or die hard or any of the major company like that is going to make money off a 'shitty' product, just my 2 pennies.

if you want performance, lightweight and all the other craps
get a gel cel battery, SPoon and some other companies made those.
of better yet, get a poorman's racing lightweight battery from the junkyard, some miata come with gel cell battery from the factory

i just went to the dealership and they said it was 94 bucks + tax for an oem replacement and said it's a 5 year battery and he also said honda no longer carries 3 years. are interstate batteries any good? the ones with the white plastic case and black tops
Don't get me wrong, I think its possible to get a decent battery from another company. I just answered the "better than the rest" question. Generally you get what you pay for. The extra quality control is sometimes worth the money, if only in peace of mind. Why take a chance on such a critical piece of equipment?
