Stay with regular motor oil if you're not already synthetic.

I think synthetic is overrated.

I have 3 Honda hybrids. One runs Mobil 1 5W30, the other two run conventional oil. I don't see the difference in the way each runs or in terms of how the oil looks when changing the oil.

Hell the only reason I even run the Mobil 1 in the one swap is because the former owner of the car (a Type R) ran it religiously.

id say run a high mileage oil rather than a regular conventional. its not that much more $$ than dino oil. it also outperforms conventional oil in many aspects. its not an energy conserving oil because its has a thicker viscosity than regular dino of the same grade.

If your engine is low mileage without any oil leaks and doesn't burn oil, then you can run synthetic. You can get the big jugs of it at a large supermarket and save some money over the little jugs. It's still not very bang for your buck, but it's worth the money.

synthetic oils have scientifically proven advantages to conventional oil. it also last much longer then conventional oil. many bmws and benzes can go 10kmi+ on synthetic oil, using their computer calculated service intervals. i go the factory reccomended 7500mi between oil changes with mobil1

d16z6 w/ 240k miles. Used M1 since the day I bought it.

Doesn't burn any oil, and Internals are super clean.
