do I need an alarm? already have immobilizer
hi
need some advice. I have 04 S2k
I am most concerned about my car when I drive it to work. I have to drive through a not so nice neighborhood to get to my rented parking spot. It is an open paved lot at the end of the nighborhood and it is not gated I park in same spot each day. But i am never at work at odd hours. Mainly 7am-5pm
since the S2000 has the theft deterrent immobilizer system should I also spend money on an alarm? I have no mods and I don't have any extra or expensive audio equipment. The only reasons I can think of ...where a thief would want to break in is: 1) they want to joy ride and or 2) if they don't know that the S2k has the immobilizer, 3) they want to rip out seats or something?.
Is my risk high enough that I should invest in an alarm? I called a place in town and they suggested the clifford RSX 3.5 with the remote paging system. What do you guys think?
I have read on some forums where people do not suggest going to a honda dealership and having them put in the manufacturer alarm...why not?
I know having a good installation is key for an effective alarm.....how do you go about finding a good shop to install your alarm?
since the s2k has the immobilizer system is lojack basically worthless? or should I also consider lojack or a similar recovery system?
sorry so many questions,
let me know what you think

Put it this way, here anyways, OEM transponder anti-theft systems ( imobilizer) are not "good enough" for insurance companies, and require at least one extra passive anti theft to quailify
If your immobilizer prevents smashed glass, being towed, then allows you to track your vehicle online while it is being stolen, and makes your keychain 'beep', then it should be good enough.
layers of security, layers and layers is your best chance.

The immobilizer is a good first layer, adding the OEM alarm is a good second layer, [its plug in, your car is wired for it] adding a 3rd 4th and 5th layers can only help, 3rd could be a stand alone backup batt. siren, 4th a GPS tracking device 5th a pitbull.
hope this helps. 94
