Default threw a rod, hole in block... check it out!

so thursday night I went to see spiderman with my girl... my oil light flashed on and off on the way home when going around corners so I thougth nothing of it but knew that I needed to drop some in... so we got back to the house and got a little distracted... the next morning on the way to work it didnt come on ( i had forgotten about it until I got on the road)... so I figurgured I was good until I got home.. well on the way home the oil light flashes on and off, so my dumbass was like well hey only 1 more mile... so I'm coasting off the freeway next thing I hear is bing bing bang.... POW, white smoke fills the cabin and I heard some **** fly underneath the car... so I pull off to the shoulder hit the hazards and try to coast as far as I could... once I stopped I popped the hood, looked uner and what do I find but a nice cisz hole in cylinder #2, so I waited for the tow truck and had the car towed to the shop... well here's the pictures, sorry they're kinda big...

Now she's just waiting for her k20...

I blew a hole on my block before too. Not as big as yours but it was enough to push me to decide to go for a swap!

Good luck, man!

It could mean that, but it could also be from a bad pump or a blocked passage. It only senses pressure, not oil level. But when the oil level gets low enough, that can definitely cause a low pressure condition.

Looks like a good excuse for a swap to me.

as soon as that oil light pops on except for on startup its time to start looking for another motor imo, everytime someones light popped on that i know a couple of months later it threw a rod or spun a bearing

i have a cpl of blocks that look like that personally and always #2 or#1 cyl

When i was trying to kill my stock d-series motor, i would let the oil light come on and drive up and down the streets bouncing off of the rev limiter in second gear......never blew.

I don't think z6's like cylinder #2 because mine blew in that identical spot a few months back... the little piece didn't come off like yours but the crack was even roughly the same shape... I have pics of mine that look almost the same as yours... I'll post one later!!! My ride got her nickname that day, she is now known as Smokey aka the smoking gun! (when i looked under the hood the hole was smoking like the barrel of a gun)

You should ALWAYS check your oil atleast once a week.
