Battery light came on after I douched out the engine compartment
Like the topic says, after I degreased my engine compartment my Battery light has come on and stays on. I can't remember for sure but I think I changed out the alternator maybe 6 years ago and I have at least one good spare, but I don't think it's the alternator because the car fires RIGHT up and runs great and has more than 14v when running. I was moving my wiring harness around a bit and removed a ground but I replaced it with a better ground. I have also made an earthing kit and the car is about as well grounded as it's ever going to get. Anyone have any suggestions for me to try before I pull the alternator to try another one?
Oh yea the distributor was covered with plastic and I checked it, it was totally dry inside. However, the car was running TERRIBLE at first because there was water that had collected in the spark plug holes that I had to suck out with a syringe, after that it started running fine. Ugh

I guess I spoke too soon about the car holding charge, I made it about 20 miles before the lights were getting too dim to be safe, so I made it to a rest area and had my wife come get me. What's odd is that the car will start after you let it sit for a while, and runs fine and the lights are bright, but after 5 minutes it dims and dies, so I'm guessing it IS the alternator.
Has anyone heard of something like this? Alternator failure after it gets wet? Could my 400w power inverter have caused it? I put it in a few days ago but I got a whining noise every time I turned it on, and it was wired direct to the battery.

Lol well the girl's had that not-so-fresh-feeling for a while now and since she's a teenager already I figured it was time to clean her out under the hood if you know what I mean. Strangely, Summer's Eve didn't work so I had to use some hardcore degreaser I got at a swap meet.
