weird engine code
I used the light on my ecu to determine my engine code. The flash sequence I got was one quick flash with a short pause plus 16 other quick flashes....... Like what the hell is that all about?
You can throw more than one code. The pause is to seperate engine codes. When you turn your car on, it will make one quick flash, then it will start flashing the code. Watch it for about 30 seconds. It should flash 16 times, pause, then 16 more and it will continue as long as the problem is there. Good Luck - Darrell

Just to add our abd-0 ecus dont have the 1 flash = 10 thing, all codes are done in short flashes, at least thats how all of mine have been with pm6 ps9 and pg7 ecus

So your car doesnt sputter, hesitate or anything? runs fine? May just be a fluke code, disconnect your battery for 30 sec, connect back, start it up and let it idle till the fans come on and shut it off. Dont touch the gas. The code may go away, if not then you do have an actual problem.

Yes # of flashes = the code. the long flash is only OBD1 cars and the long and short flashes on them is the CEL. OBD0 = no long flash.
Code 1 is for Oxygen content. Code 16 is for Fuel Injector. I have the book right here on my desk so I am not blowing smoke in your bum-bum. My guess is that your O2 sensor is getting old and one of your injectors is giving the ecu a load (clogged or bad.) I hope that helps. Do you have Dual-Point or Multi-Point injection? Does your car seem to have a miss? Does the high end seem like it works okay?
I have multi point, and it's more like as soon as I shift to 3 gear that there's is one point where the engine misfires or something because I barely accelerate even if I have my pedal right down to the floor, but then after about 2 seconds it goes back to normal.
Is it your daily driver? If it were me, I would send those injectors off to be cleaned and buy a new O2 sensor. RC Engineering does a great job of cleaning injectors. They will send a printout of before and after results. we sent some 550s from an RX7 in and they were only pumping 464. When they finished cleaning them, 3 of them did 550 and one was 549. I like those guys' work. That would be hard if it is your daily driver because it takes at least a week. Well, I hope this helps. Good luck.
