Default BUILT Sohc/Dohc Zc or D16a6 Who Done It? Pointers?

At first I was set on dropping an H22 into my crx, but I dont have the knowledge now the fab skills nor the money to put it together lol.

So I decided I wanted to go with a Zc or the stock d16a6

I dont want to build it for boost, I want to build it for nitrous.

Ive got a sohc zc but I think Id probably go with the Dohc zc for a build up right?

I want it because it uses most oem items like axles and wiring harness and everything.

SO Im looking for what exactly should I be looking for? Compression, headwork,

Blockguard (what is it)
Sleeving (what is it)

Also does anyone know if its possible to make a Zex kit into a 100 shot?
If Im gonna build a motor I think Id go with atleast a 100 shot

Thanks

Could be the sleeper Ive always dreamed of

Any of those engines would work for nitrous, but I myself would perfer the DOHC ZC. The engines stock compression is a bit high at 9.5:1 (JDM Black top) but the motor is very stout. For a 1.6L non v-tec the motor performs great. The one downfall of the ZC is its weak connecting rods. Buy some billet pistons and eagle H beams from somewhere like Endyne(which has a kit on sale still I believe) and you could definitely build that motor to hold nitrous up to a 100 shot. Just remember, dont build just a block, or just a head, but build both to withstand immense pressures and temperatures. - Darrell

Im going to have a budget of atleast 2000 for this motor right away just form what Ill have left over from working in the summer, then whatever I make in the winter if I get a job again lol

Rods/Pistons are defientely going to be happenning, maybe some machine work on the crank

Probably will just buy a head that someone has already built and add my own cams

I just need ideas or links to people who has done it.

I should be looking for what compression though for a 100 shot? High or Low
Thats something Ive always been lost on

100 shot CAN be utilized IF TUNED perfectly
MistaBone did it

the secret???? Tuning out the threat of detonation by ways of DUMPLOADS of high octane fuel. Something your stock 240cc injectors can't do.

Even BIG BUCK BUILT engines get BLOWNUP from improper tuning.

I suggest staring out with 50 shot for starters then work your way up.

the bigger the shot the more narrow the tuning window and greater chance of FUBAR'ing your engine.

Im already running a 65 shot on stock injectors and 89 octane (OH MY)

Of course Ill pick up a walbro pump and some 350cc injectors and a little dyno time because I know a guy at work who works at a shop on the weekends

Just need Ideas on what to be looking for and the cost of the builds

i have a dohc built zc, all of the internal parts, bearings, seals are 89 teg, i used custom Je Pistons 9.5.1, crower rods, arp headstuds(make sure u get the right ones, some people say 1.8 jetta ones will fit, they didnt on my zc, 89 interga arp headsuds fit perfect. i did mild headwork. so far after 2 years of boosting daily at 6.5 sometimes at 10psi, the engine has been rock solid, no burning oil and pulls great under boost, dont let anyone say the zc is a sh.. engine, as long as you have proper tuning you should be fine, a great investment in a standalone, well worth the money

Building an engine to take a 100 shot and another for 6.5 psi?

People run 8 pounds on stock blocks all day long. I have a friend who has a bone stock d-series running a 100 shot at the track for over a year.

Look at this- http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?t=4140

I also dont think a stock d series could take a 100 shot

Obviously he must have had some fule upgrades because theres no way for a oem fuel pump to keep up with that nor the injecors

Where in Toronto did you get your work done?

I mean internally stock. The point is if your going to go through the trouble to build an engine, please, run over 8psi...
