Default HB Civic in need of Power.

Just picked up my 91 civic hb last week. (New Toy)

b15 with 4 spd manual. 120k ... needs some power..grandma almost ran me over with her walker!!!

Looking to pick a motor/trans swap this week need help from experience.

I have read a lot of confilcting articles for the past week,

Looking to do a motor and trans swap, so many different choices Im confused and learning, b16a,b18a1,b,c1 and transmissions is another story.

Is the b16a the best all around transplant or b18a1,b,c1 ODB1 ,2 and on and on.

Want to buy one that I can continue to build on ideally this car will have a big turbo and ic with 300+HP.

Just a nice little kick in the pants I can drive everyday, and suprise a couple of the punks in the area.

Not looking for a all out Drag Car,already own a 99' 900 Hp 427 Turbo Corvette no fun to drive on the street anymore.

Money is not the issue , which motor would you pick to be
1- Easy to install
2- Parts that you can get anywere
3- Makes lots of power

obviously the first thing i will do when i buy a swap is pull the motor down and build the bottom end, girdle, rods, pistons, etc.

Ive learned from experience to always spend the most on the bottom end..

If you dont you will regret it later..

i learned that with my wife
if money is no issue then go with a bseries motor, which you do not have.
what do you mean by easy to install?
as for parts that you can get anywhere, that's a kinda vauge statement.
what do you cosider lots of power?
use the search function. the spectum of things that can be done under you specifications is very broad.

Sorry about the b comment it is a d.

I was trying to pick everybodys brain about which motor to turbo.
I work at a company which uses alot of the tubing for intercoolers and I have a few good connections for a turbo and intercooler.

I have read lot of posts ,spent about 7 hours one night going post by post on this forum, and alot of it seemed to be what people want to do.
Have not see any posts about "my 500hp civic blastin 9.20's etc."

I guess I'm missing something, If you had the choice of motors to turbo and make 300+ horespower what would you choose and why?
16 or 18 a series b series c series d series.

Reason I say 300+ is too many cars today have about 300 with minor mods, dont want to be another video of civic almost beating blah blah blah..

Second which transmission has the best street car ratio for this application?

go with the b18c5 and turbo it. build the internals and get a good tuning system like hondata or a standalone. ls tranny is pretty decent for street but long gears will be less of a joy on the track. 99-00 SI trannies seem to be pretty popular but i dunno if they would be beeter/worth the change from the GSR tranny.

my .02

if it were ME> h22/turbo + brace your structure and tweak the suspension

damn nice vette.. doesnt look very street legal tho! imo, id go with the b18c5. its a solid N/A motor. bump the compression down a bit and so a little internal work and its good for boost.

why not just buy a cable b16 swap then do pistons/rods/crank/valves/and all the other fun stuff then have your buddies turbo it?

maybe even sleeve it, but id say your best bet is a b16 cable swap and just build the **** out of the motor, why would you buy a b18c5 longblock if you are just going to build the **** out of it? it costs ALOT becaus its made to be ran how it is and you would have basicaly the same motor at the end anyways
