what would conceivably be the most effective, full proof alarm? not looking for brands, but ideas
i've always driven a piece of ****, so i've never needed an alarm, so i don't know much about them. but with my recent purchase, i'm going to need one.
anyway, please add to this thread, because from what i've read, some of you guys are really tech-intelligent. some of the things i can think of, just off the top of my head:
• the battery must not be accesible. a dead battery means dead alarm?
• ignition kill or just lack of steering wheel?
• fake wiring
• shaven door handles
as you can see, i really don't know what i'm talking about. so what would conceivably be the most full proof theft deterent?
thanks guys.

hmmm
you could put the battery in the back, in a home made battery box, I made one out of 3/4" MDF with vent holes that were drilled thru the rear floor of my hatchback. I ran metal conduit under the carpet from the starter back to the battery box. and at the starter, I put a combination, wood/sheet metal cover over the starter +12v wire and the wire that turns over the starter itself. I also put a relay inline with that wire, so I could put a 'hidden' kill switch for the starter. with this, it makes it REALLY hard for anyone to try and 'jump' the starter with a screwdriver, it also makes it really hard for the to use a 'battery jumper box' to start your car too, I guess if they had a lot of time they could unbolt all that junk and start the car.
the idea is to really make it hard for them to take it. make them take a long time to steal your ride. in the mean time, but a GPS tracking system I have one in my car and sell them also.
once the door is open, you get a phone call on your cell, while the kids are trying to start your car, you already called the police and you start tracking your car, you can disable the starter via cellphone. now you have time to scare them off and away from you car.
you can always get the rear door handles from the same model car you have and put them in the front doors, that way you have 'shaved' the keyhold without really modifying your doors. nice, stock look to this.
if you can afford the gps, or can and addition to this gps, buy a nice fm pager alarm systm. such as the (dont start flaming me on this one, i've never had a problem with these units) the prestige 996a fm pager system, about 150 on ebay. and really nice, lots of inputs and outputs
get a backup battery, the dei piece is really nice.
you could always install your alarm somewhere else, like the ceiling panel, rear deck or inside the trunk and put some crappy *** alarm under the dash, so when the kids think they got you, you got them
but of course, the removable steering wheel is a nice option. just a pain sometimes, and nice conversaton piece too. get the locking type.
even if the tow it, you still got the GPS tracking system, you will find it, immediatly
good luck

A gps alarm system sealed inside the rear axle during it's construction that alerts the authorities and tracks the car whenever the axle rotates without a security code being called in to the alarm company prior to starting the car
not too feasible or convenient, but very effective, if it existed.

I've got the easiest way to make sure that your car isn't stolen....at least cranked and stolen....kinda ghetto..but it'll work, and it's cheap

An ED-209 ( from Robocop) that follows you around would be pretty cool.
"please move away from the vehicle, you have 20 seconds to comply" S!K
layers and layers is the best bet: ie
GPS, TW alarm/ pager remote, pain generator sirens, battery backup sirens, starter kill, ignition kill, headlight kill - most cars are stolen at night, steering wheel lock, pedal lock, air suspension that rests the frame on the ground - so you can't get towed, shatterproof tint on the windows, remove the ecu etc...,
And after all that, if a guy really wants your ride, he will just jack the keys off you, so perhaps it would just be best if you sell the car and take the bus.

is there a way around those steel rods that clamp onto your gas and brake pedals that don't allow them to be used? those things are ******* strong.
there is no fool proof way to stop a thief. you can add all the alarms you want and they will still find a way to steal it. the best way to prevent theft is to keep the car looking/sounding as stock as possible. people only steal what they can resell or use. if they think you have a stock integra ls or civic hatchbatch they might just leave you alone.
let them tow it
let them jack me at gun point
with the systems that I sell, (gps tracking) you can disable the vehicle, or track it thru the voice mail commands using your cell phone.
you can disable the fuel pump when they jack you and they're a mile or so away from you.
you can track the vehicle as you fill out the police report, and give the police the address where you car is getting stripped.
its great stuff and it really works.
how long does it take the strip the car? a half an hour? how long does it take to get that car from your house to thier house? you are notified by cell phone the INSTANT the door is open, or the car is out of it perimeter (150ft) and you can track it right then and there. you will be able to see the route it takes from your house, to their house, and when they find it and thus disabling the system. but the system keeps a record of the last known position which would most likely be the place in which they found it, at their house. you will have the address and will be able to give the police the information as the guys are dropping your car off at their drop off point.
if everyone had this system, we'd all still have our cars.

wow is all i can say. that sounds ****** badass... but it also sounds pricey. how much for the hardware, installation/setup, and monthly fee?
well, if your really budget minded then ya maybe it could be pricey.
anyways the basic unit is 499.00
its a stand alone unit and it basically monitors the intrusions, and when triggered will make a cell phone call to your # and tell you where you are located thru cellemetry and gps.
there is a monthly subscription from 5 to 50 bucks a month, the subscription is based on how many usages you were to use in each session, how many sessions a month, how much you wanna use it. some people would only use it on occasion, to unlock their doors, or all the time 24/7
pm me for more details.
