I have a 92 Honda Civic Sedan and Im in the middle of fixin it up. A buddy of mine has a 94 Honda Civic SI with a stock VTEC. He is planning on selling it to me and I dont know if it is worth it and how much horses a stock SI VTEC is pushin. Can anyone help?

125hp is what Honda lables it. Could be more (gifted engines only) or less.

Stock, it is a d16z6. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I BELIEVE either 125 or 127 crank hp...

not been fixin up honda's to long huh?

It's 125. The Y8's rated at 127.

 

you probably have a dx or lx sedan which is 102 or 105hp. Si (D16Z6) is 125hp, 1.6l over your 1.5 and its got better gearing in the tranny. not really worth the hassel of the swap for 20more hp. go get urself a b18b or b20. that will make ur sedan haul ***

that is true...d series motors have come up over the past couple years...but i am about ready to swap...or own something that is swapped.

if your getting the motor on a good deal...i would do it if thats your only option.

 

my 92 SI put down 112 at the wheels stock with 126k miles. Hope that helps.

lol. They've come up. Could have sworn they been around for awhile. I think you mean they have come up with people Turboing the motors.

 

ya d serious are cool and all, but are very ******* limited! if you dont have money then get the sawp, but if you have money an h22 will make ur **** go. Or a b20 or b18b. Its not that we all just say B series for the hell of it, its because it would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better if you can afford it. d series are fun and all and "different" but they are weak......125 on your car would be still very slow, cause of the weight. you need something with more torque for your car. dont get it unless its free

 

It depends on what you want to do with your car.

 

yeah its worth it, if ur not lookin to spend a lot a money, u could buy the car, spend about 1500 on a turbo kit, make 200whp, and an si hatch is a great platform to build on very light, and lots of parts for 92-95's out there. With 200whp ur probably beating most of the people on this forum who spent all their money on the damn b swap. And if u blow it up who cares motors are like 3-400 bux. If you got enough money for a b-swap and turbo, why the hell do u have a honda.

 

I had a D16Z6 in my civic, It was a damn good lil motor. I won't say it had any ***** to it, but compared to other stock compact cars it did... the B18C1 I have now makes the Z6 look silly though

But yes, as said above, build the Z6, parts are cheap and there are shitloads of them.

 

About 105 Dynojet 248C horsepower to the wheels. Good enough to get you from A to B while being fairly fuel efficient. With a car in good working order and an economical driving style you can get around 40mpg.

However, if you want more power you'd probably have to look into a Jackson Racing supercharger (don't know if there are any other street legal kits) or a street legal turbo kit like GReddy's.

B series swaps are so over rated. For the cost of a B16 I did a turbo setup that eats up GSR hatches.

 

Oh no...not another B vs. D argument....You'll be putting down low 100 hp, more or less, depending on the mileage and condition. If you can get the z6 for super cheap, I say go for it. That's a real underrated motor.

A local kid hit 15.8 in his si hatch with 200k miles on it and all he had was a fucked up short ram. Another kid, somewhere in h-t hit 15.2 (and he had real horrible 60 ft. times) with i/h in his si hatch. So I'm assuming you'd be easily in the 16's maybe even 15's stock with some decent driving. That's nowhere near impressive, but hey, it's better that what most kids, including myself, I see run at the track.
