Hello,
I'm new here and would like to know a few things:
I was looking at subaru wagons for a while but stumbled upon a 96 accord EX wagon with 133K mi.
It drives better than most of the subie's I tried, feels and looks mostly new and just really impressed me for its age.
What should i be looking at when buying this car? what are the common issues with them, and are the SOHC VTEC's problematic in any ways? Is the mileage high for this car?
Also, what kind of gas does this car take?
Thanks in advance!

engine is only in puberty.......
, very few problems with the car, period. biggest problems for 5th gen accord are the stupid stuff....driver side power windows master switch goes on the fritz, ratteling sound around 1750k from the heat shield, and a few other stupid things. 5th gen accords = teh win!

I am looking at a '97 for $6.3 with 147k miles on the clock.
Lousy cars do not generally amass a lot of mileage.
The '89 Volvo is now over 220.
I understand that Honda does not use a stainless-steel exhaust system, thus some $$$ at around 100. I replaced the '88 center section at 110 or so, and it was very easy as Honda is kind enough to use flanges. I guess it cost around $75 ?
Also, I would expect alternator brushes to wear out at about the same mileage, but the '93 Passat VR6 has the original at 140 and I have yet to find the regulator/brush kit. Cause for worry !

87octane is fine. i have 148k on mine and i dont plan on it clunking out on me anytime soon. if you plan on performance modding it, try to swap out for a manual tranny. or leave it auto and just use it as a cruiser/daily driver. i chose the latter.

i was wondering why h&r had two separate part numbers for 94-95 and 90-93, 96-97 springs. so i emailed them. found out about the different spring legths. then i emailed koni to ask what perch their shock is based on, because they only had one part number for 90-97. they said its based on the lower perch setting, but works fine with 94-95 springs. low perch, short springs. i couldnt imagine it with 94-95 race springs. it would be dragging if it wasnt on the highest perch setting.

wow.....so how much lower is it actually, compared to stock height??

i didnt officially measure the drop. the h&r sports give a 1.75 drop, which would leave a two finger gap, i'd say. but with the koni's, it tucks one finger all around with the koni's on the lowest perch.

lowest on the rear, second from lowest on the front. never bottom out. camber isnt as bad as i thought it should be. the camber was worse on my 96 accord coupe when it was "dumped" (perch all the way down, but it was not as low as my wagon) with ground controls and tokico blues. i think it was teh tokicos that kept it high.
