Burning Oil
I'm lookin at pickin up a 91 CRX DX next week. Only problem is that it burns oil real bad. I've done a little research and figured out its probably valve seals or piston rings... but anyhow, how long will a motor last when its burning oil (if i keep the oil level always full)? I need to get around for a month or two before I get a ZC dropped in.
The guy's sellin it for 1200 and its in good condition... just the motor burns oil (about a quart a week). Is this a good deal?
Also, with the ZC motor, should I keep the DX tranny? and how much will I be lookin at payin for a DOHC (w/ and w/o tranny)?
Thanks guys... I hate being new to things

The motor should last u for as long as u need it. I've driven some cars for a long time and they were worse than a quart a week. Just keep an eye on the level and keep it topped up.
$1200 isn't that great of a deal unless its canadian funnymoney...
or if prices for those cars are high there. or the car is in awesome condition.
and a quart a week is quite a bit of oil to burn; how many miles does the engine have on it and does it start and run good (meaning it has compression).
and afaik the DOHC ZC conforms to all the standard d-series rules so you can use your mounts and tranny to bolt it to your car. dont quote me on that; i'm not a huge fan of that motor by any means.
