Default jdm b18c r speed limiter

I just had a JDM ITR motor, trans, ecu swapped into my GSR and found out the hard way that its governed at 128, something I had never heard of before. What are my best (and cheapest) options for getting rid of the speed limiter? I searched but couldnt find anything, so if anyone knows, i'd appreciate it.

Run a chipped P28 ecu, which will also require swapping the VTEC solenoid to one from a USDM motor.

it's not a speed limiter.

the JDM ITR transmission redlines in 5th at about that speed. The only way to go faster is to use a USDM ITR (145ish) or GSR (155ish).

The JDM ITR transmission has VERY short gears and a 4.78 final drive. It trades top speed for better acceleration. The only thing you can do is change transmissions or swap in taller gears. This speed limit is not an ECU limited thing you can disable...unless you up the redline. Did you honestly think you could have short short gearing and still hit 150

i still had a couple grand left on the tach though - and its a fuel cutout, it comes out of nowhere, really weird.... but yeah the gears are real short so i guess 150 isnt in my near future, I just couldnt believe it, because my last gsr i got up to 142

Hey the guy never stated he had the 98spec so what makes you think he has the the 4.7 final drive? Even the 98spec has a speed limiter like the 96spec at about 120mph, on the stock cluster it looks like 130.

mines 96 - and yeah, on the stock cluster i thought it was about 128 when it cut in, guess it could have been 130, wasnt really staring at the speedo so much as i was at the road. wasnt on the track, was on about a ten mile straightaway in Utah on the way to Vegas.

The 96spec itr motor+transmission has a 4.4 final drive just like the us spec gsr and us spec type r. So once you get past that limiter you'll have the same top speed as your old gsr setup. I have a 96 spec as well and at first found the speed limiter annoying but I don't wanna get caught going that fast so its no big deal, it'll keep you out of more trouble than you can get yourself into.

If you really wanna get rid of it though you could get a mugen ecu or a chipped p28 like someone said. Or maybe run a obdIIa type r ecu, the one with out an immobilizer.

What was your RPM when this fuel cutoff onset? I've heard of some USDM GS-Rs having a speed limiter of about 128, though no first hand data.

uh, it is a speed limiter. all jdm honda ecu's come with it.

u cannot hit redline in 5th gear, nor go past 6500 rpms with the jdm p73 in 5th gear.
