Default Integra's ridiculously long antenna

The only thing i hate about integra's exterior would be it's antenna. It's like 4 feet long, so i was wondering what are the possibilities of making it shorter, and if so how would i install it?

If you changed your antenna please post pics and how u installed it and all the info ... thanx!

welcome.

search for "antenna" in this forums archives and you can see the s2000 antenna conversion.

you can also make a switch for the stock one so it goes down when not listening to the radio.

remeber. search is your friend. if you have it question, it has probably been asked and answered already.

i don't really like how the s2k antenna flows with the car. a really nice antenna that not many use and often is overlooked is the Honda Insight antenna. i remember like 3 years ago over on hondahookup, Toda Party did a big write up on the install. looked like it belonged there.

S2000 Antenna is not that sweet. I mean look at it. it's a fat stubby antenna that sticks out like a sore thumb on any non-black integra. What's wrong with the more slender stock antenna?

And if you don't listen to the radio, that's fine, the antenna stays down. If you really want to keep it down permanantly, cut out the antenna motor, or just remove the whole thing. You can still get reception with the antenna all the way down. That's what I do, whenever I actually play the radio. It's not as good, but it looks nicer, if that's your thing.

Antenna goes up as long as the headunit is turned on, even if you are't listening to the radio...

Why would you do that? If you listen to CD's the antenna stays down...so it doesn't matter anyway. But what if someday you do just happen to want to listen to the radio? You can't because for no particular reason u left to antenna un-connected.

personally, i would leave my stock antenna. if you have an aftermarket head unit, the antenna should go down when you're listening to your cd. i like the s2000 antenna as well as the insight but around where i live, it's just another thing for these punks to either try to steal or vandalize. so i would prefer to leave my stock integra antenna alone, at least it's out of the way when not in use.

If you have the stock unit, the antenna goes up no matter what. But with most aftermarket decks, it should only go up when the radio turns on.

I didn't plug my antenna into my headunit because the wire was short and would have been a bitch to get in. I never listen to the radio anyway so it doesn't matter. What my problem is though, I still have the antenna up because theres a loose wire or something somewear so it stays up even with the car off. Everyone once and a while it goes down, but idk how to get to the motor and ****. Hmm maybe I should read the s2k antenna install. That would prob have how to do it.
