header and OBDII = check engine light
i've just recently installed an '01 jdm itr header into my car, i also went to an exhaust shop to pick up some 2.25" piping to run to my usdm itr exhaust.. with the piping i also removed the cat because emissions isn't really strictly enforced in hawaii.. the guy that did my piping offered me this adapter that connects to the primary o2 sensor in the header which tricks the ecu into thinking it's getting good air.. so i bought it, he installed it and there was no check engine like.. it ran fine at the track and everything, but for some reason whenever i take my girl home at night like 2 in the morning, i drive down her hill and then the check engine light comes on.. i have no clue what that stupid adapter thing does, because he just bared told me what it does.. does someone have any tips for me? please let me know, thanks..

I didn't read anywhere where he said he had a leak...unless I missed something here.
And, just because no converter is present, he never said what the CEL was for, so you can't assume it's the cat. converter missing.
Anyways, why don't you pull the CEL and find out what your problem is. It COULD be specualted that because you don't have a cat, that is what's causing your CEL. But, I did not get a CEL on my 98 Integra when I installed a testpipe. Every car acts differently to modification though.
So, until you pull that check engine code, you're just going to be guessing your head off at what it is..

oh yeah sorry, i checked the code at my workplace with the OBDII reader, it said "o2 sensor voltage high" and "o2 sensor defective". i also posted this same topic in the itr board and someone came to the conclusion that this adapter i have sometimes tricks the ecu into thinking it's getting good air but then the ecu later realizes that it's getting too much of a perfect air ratio so it fires the CEL.. let me know what you guys think, thanks..
well my boys just installed a k20R into a RSX. they got the same problem, something with the SRS. dunno if you have that same problem
Could also be with the catback. if your ecu is searching for a cat it'll be on.

that's what that adapter thing is for.. it plugs into the primary o2 sensor and tricks the ecu into thinking it's getting good air.. but the problem is i have no idea why it trips the CEL only when i'm driving down my girl's hill at night.. i mean it's runs with no problems at all the whole entire day, then i know that it'll trip when i drop her off at night, and sure enough it does.. it's kinda weird how it all works out.
