RESINATOR POLL!!!!
Resonators deepen the tone of the exhaust and get rid of that irritating high pictch weedwhacker sound.
Just make sure it is a straight through without louvers and ****.

just recently put a resonator on my exhaust before i had header, punched out cat, straight pipe to a thermal muffler and it was so annoying now with a 21 inch resonator the car has the best sound of an import I've ever heard i love it and i noticed little to nothing on the performance end i'm absolutely happy with it and i paid 45 bucs installed for it so you can't beat that...

Exactly. I have a huge resonator with louvers that I had put on when I was daily driving my car, and wanted the exhaust super quiet. They work very well, but you lose some performance. Some people say it's not noticeable, but it definately is.

i have dc sports 4-1's and then a 14" 2.5" inside dia resonator pipe then a 2.5" cat back HKS Hi-Per and it couldn't sound any better
no rasp at all and its moderatley quiet at low rpms, then at high rpms its really loud but still maintains the deep *** growl, no raspiness

You're 80% right. They don't deepen anything, they just "eat up" the higher pitched noises, allowing only the deeper/nicer ones to be heard.

I have straight through right now with a bullet(ractive) muffler and it is waaaayyy to loud, I hate it. Now I am gettiing a complete exhaust WITH a resonator. Go with the resonator, you wont notice any performance loss and it will sound better
I have a magnaflow catback... HOWEVER.... I cut off the can and put on the largest oval magnaflow muffler I could get...
It sounds SOOOO much better with the bigger muffler on there...
The resonator is a must IMO... especially if you have a gutted cat or straight pipe...
Even with a cat no resonator just leaves you with a retarded raspy sounding exhaust... IMO.

i had a 2.5" custom exhaust w/N1 muffler on my first civic, no resinator, and stock cat. it wasn't raspy, but it was loud as hell. it gave off more of a farting sound than a raspy sound. it was really deep at lower RPMs and would get really high pitched above 5,000. i like the deep, smooth tones a resinator and good muffler give you.
i got a resinator on my custom 2 1/4 piping back to my Rs-R ex mag and mines sounds stock quiet. No sound at all. Is that good guys? cause i thought it was suppost to make a tad buit of noise but damn my resinator is huge. I like it stock quiet anyways.
I am running a Thrush Glasspack as my resonator and its great.
Its a straight through perforated core.
Available at your local auto parts place for like $23 Just ask for the cheap red cherry bomb mufflers and they will know what you need. lol

just buy a cherry bomb at autozone, or go to a muffler shop, they're cheaper and probably work a lot better than something off ebay. i wont trust anything on ebay if it has to do with engine or exhaust parts.
http://www.kteller.com also has kickass resinators, but theyre about $65 for a 14".

I have no resonator. I opted to go without one at the time, because I was more interested in weight savings.
I ordered one recently, but its the wrong size. I don't mind the volume of my exhaust, but the annoying high rpm buzzing is obnoxious.
If anybody wants a magnaflow stainless 2.5" in/out, 14" long, 4" body, part #14416, PM me.
