Default magnetic oil drain plug?

Hi,

I saw this magnetic drain plug wondering if it might actually help at all, or is it a waste of money? i mean if it can keep your oil cleaner isn't that good?

ya if u have metal floating around it helps grab it. and plus gives you a little insight on whats going on in the motor.

RS Strauss sells some for like 3-4 bucks BUT
the magnet strength sucks...
seeing that the ebay one can hold upright two of them... it sounds like it would grab ALOT more than the one from rsstrauss that I saw...
i might order one myself now

just to let you kno there shouldnt be ANY magnetic metal pieces floating in your oil pan or else theres a big problem...bearings and seals arent magnetic.. the only thing i can think of thats magnetic is the crank everything else is brass w/ aluminum coating or aluminum.. keep it in the tranny.. which we already usually have it in t here.. but for bling factor why not have it LOL

i have them on my car...

i put them on when i did my motorswap and i believe they helped out alot. **** might of gotten in there and when i pulled the drain plug, there was plenty to look at... its not crazy spikes ( which it shouldn't be, if it is, you shouldn't be worrying abou the plug) but A LITTLE metal residue.
