Default VSS removal from a D Series

I'm trying to remove my VSS from the D - Series tranny.

Pain in the ***, I can't get it out.

Removed the 10 MM Bolt and plate
Removed the Clip that hold the cable to the actual turning mechanism.

Attempted to remove the VSS, but that **** is stuck in there.. Hit it with some BG, nothing...won't budge...it almost looks as if something is holding it down.

Any pointers / ideas?

Thanks!

And just to clarify, I read on some previous threads, that this VSS should work on a B hydro tranny. Correct?

Yeah sometimes those are a pita to get out. I would just keep trying. usually letting it soak with some pb blaster or good rust penetrant helps. and yes it will work in a hydro tranny

use a flat head screw driver or a smaller blade pry bar and it will pop right out.

mine came out smoothly. its just a small gear that goes in the tranny. it should come out easy.

vss= vehicle speed sensor. the older d-series cars have a gear that drives the speedo cable. The vss is in the cluster. newer B-series cars have an electric one. You need it to engage Vtec and for the ecu to receive the signal
