I have a 89 DX that wouldn't start today. I jumped it off and it ran fine until I shut it off. I replaced the plugs recently, and I hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. All my fuses are good. But all it does is crank, it won't turn over.

I posted not too long ago about my car hesisating and stuttering when I accelerate. Also, the dash and console lights dim at night when I stop. It's like something is draining the power.

I replaced the battery and alternator about 3 years ago, and recently had the battery tested again because of the problems mentioned above, and it tested ok.

Do I need a distributor? I also replaced the ignitor because of the 'bouncing' tach problem, but that didn't help much.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The bouncing tach sounds like a distributor problem. If possible, test it with a known good one.

The dimming lights sounds like a alternator issues. Double check the alternator connections. If everythings is connected good, then get it checked out.
Also I would check all the grounds.
