Default pulley and crank shaft question

I have just put in a new engine in my teg, and I guess when I installed the pulley the key way was not all the way in and it sheared the key and the crank a little, what to do now? I guess the best way is new crank, but thats a whole motor out procedure and I kinda dont wanna do that. can I just try a new pulley and key and lock tite the hell out of the threads? or can I just tack weld the pulley on and when I need to remove it again just air chisel it off?

the pulley is just for the belts and has nothing to do with the timing right???

any thoughts I will try to get a pic up here.

that pulley is a harmonic balancer. any added weight can throw off the crankshaft at high revolutions.

thats good to know so any added metal would be messy at high rpm's

Go have another keyway cut out. V8 guys have been doing it for years because they had probalmes spinning the timing gear off the crank when they start making a lot of power. Except you wouldn't have to get your timing gear notched just your pulley. You may have to pull your engine apart to do that though also. How screwed up is your crank?
