i want to build a b20 vtec but i dont have the cash to get everything at once so i plan on buying the parts seperate. What parts (rods, pistons, etc) are must haves, without going all the way to a full raced b20 of course. i want to have a daily driver but i want it to have *****. and another thing, is sleeving the walls a must, or thats only if your going to run the **** out of the motor???

 

if you plan to run high compression you should get it sleeved if you want relibility in mind. you can bore it out too and run bigger pistions make it like a 2.1

 

a must is rod bolts............new head gasket head studs and raise compression...get some endyn or cp or je 12.5:1 pistons and a great builder and u will be ok...i run 12.5:1 on 84.5mm oem sleeves all day revving 9500 on eagle rods and cp pistons...................arp bolts on oem rods should be ok

 

my biggest suggestion would be a limited slip.

i don't think a brand name suggestion would help you too much. just go with quality parts, and assembly, and your good to go.
