ok im stumped I just picked up this car and when i get into the uper rpm (between 3500 and 5000 is the redline) the tranny is grinding. Is that a sign my tranny is going out or something else is wrong with it?

I dont know what tranny it is. I mean is it the same tranny as the dx or something lower like the ex?

Anyone with anything would be greatly appreciated.

 

you have the lowest model crx..HF was the lowest model...and there was never an EX crx...or tranny for it unless your referring to the newer civics & hatchs...if the tranny is grinding its most likely shot...as far as the redline goes that is what it is...

 

my friend thought he had the same problem but his dumb *** let the brakes go badd so he was grinding his front right rotor all the time, his clutch is goin' out tooo

 

I certainly hope someone can tell the difference in a tranny grind and bad brakes.....


As for the original question, sounds like your syncros are shot. If you are running the stock setup for engine/trans, you might want to look into doing a swap.
