can you tell if your water pump/timing belt/tensioner are worn?
bought the car used from a dealer and they dont know if the previous owner did the timing belt replacement or not.
I can open the motor up by myself, but when I open it, will I be able to tell if the water pump/timing belt/tensioner have been replaced? I dont want to replace the parts if i dont have to.

when in doubt, change it. $200 is alot better than spending thousands if the timing belt breaks and the engine self-destructs.
ya, i mean, if i cannot tell FOR SURE that the belt has been replaced, then I will replace it. Those belts are $200???!!! I thought they were more in the 100 range
well if you wann check it youd still have to take the belt off and bend it back to check for cracks so why not just replace it with a new one. Having your timing belt break and having to replace bent valves isn't something i would spend $200 to prevent.
u know there might be a sticker on the hood that some dealers place on ur hood to show when was the last time u replaced it... only a few do it mayb u got lucky...
and if in doubt 200 bux aint too bad... tons better then 2 gs!
