does anyone know what was the first year vtec came out in the civic?

 

in the US?
i think it was literally 91??

just a guess tho...
eg si would be the first,
but I have a feeling I read there was some other wierd EF chassis car that had vtec or somethin...

but i duno..

 

on a civic, the EF had none in the US. 92 Si had it.

First vtec was in the integra, US wise.

 

in the U.S. the first vtec was the 92 teg gsr with the b17 and the 92 civic si. and in the asian market it was 1990 in the nsx and the civic sir with the b16

 

the FIRST Vtec was the 1991 Acura NSX

but for the 4 cyl civic was the VX, Si models in 1992

in the U.S., VTEC first came out in the 1991 Acura NSX.

92-93 integra GSR's were equipped with a B17A1 DOHC VTEC motor.

92-95 Civic's...
Civic Hatchback Si is equipped with a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC motor.
Civic EX is also equipped with a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC motor.
Civic Hatchback VX is equipped with D15Z1 SOHC VTEC-E motor.

i think he's referring to U.S., not Japan.

yes, the SI and EX models have VTEC, and the VX model has VTEC-E (e is for economy) the vtec-e is more for better gas mileage than performance, but yes SI/EX 94 civics do have vtec (d16z6 motors- 1.6L SOHC VTEC)
