Question regarding ECU
I just bought a 94 accord ex 5 speed, I have heard that people take out the ecu to prevent theft. I live in a high theft area and I only have liability insurance. I already have a club and an alarm. How can I take out the ecu? Is this a good idea? THanks for your help, I tried to search for ecu and theft but did not get any results.
Also, is there anything else that can easily be removed from the car to stop it from working. I plan to get a fuel pump cutoff switch but am really busy and I cant afford to get my car stolen now!
put your car on blocks whenever you leave it, that way, no one can steal it.
in all seriousness though, i have never heard of people taking out their ECU to prevent someone from stealing their car. i would reccomend that fuel cut off, but you say your too busy. you dont sound like you really care for your car too much, if your worried about it getting stolen, but dont want to spend the time putting in a fuel cut off.
just think, when your car gets stolen, you'll have all the time in the world, because you wont be able to anywhere.

your ecu is under the footrest of the front passanger seat. its bolted to a metal plate. just get a seperate kill switch hidden somewhere and dont tell anyone where it is. or you can just unplug the harness under the hood or unplug a spark wire but that gets real tedious having to open and close ur hood daily to start it.
I have removed my ecu before to prevent theft, mainly in hotels out of town.
Just take your main relay out, the car isn't going anywhere without that.
