Default a couple of brake questions....

hey all,
Im changing my pads, rotors, stainless steel lines, and new fluid. Its on a 00 LS and I was just wondering how to change the stainless steel lines and also where to get some good fluid. Since I have ABS its gonna be something like Motul (sp) or the valvoline dot 3 & dot 4 exceeding stuff. Thanks all

i like prestone or valvoline dot 3/4, just make sure you get something that says its good for ABS....whatever you do, do not get dot 5, just bc its a higher #, doesnt mean it'll work better, it has diff ingredients (silicone) which is not good for our braking system.

well brake fluid is all for preference or what u use the car for.

and replacing them is no prob either, just unbolting and bolting back up, just watch the fluid in the mc unless u want to be bench bleeding

once bolted on just do the standard procedure of bleeding the brakes

oh and there are some how to some where on this board, so try searching that might help too

You can read about various fluids in this topic. Motul RBF 600 is certainly one of the best. Two places you can get it in the Chicago area are Northstar Motorsports in Barrington, and DRE-Wrep in Streamwood.
