1993 accord overheating problem
Hi, I have a 93 lx coupe and the temp guage moves up to about a little bit over half way. what do you think is the cause of this? How can I test the ECT sensor? thanks
a lil bit over half way is not a prob, when it starts getting up to 2/3 or higher, then worry, first is to check if the fans work, with the car on turn on the a/c, if both fans turn on =
, if not then theres one problem, with the car on, as soon as the temp = halfway at least the rad fan will turn on, if they dont then it is either the thermostat or the switch, thermostat is a very common problem and if it is stuck closed, then it will not turn the fans on
so check the fans first, if it turns on with the a/c but not when temp = halfway, i almost guarantee it is the thermostat(same thing happened to me)

well honda temp should be at 26%. if the temp goes a higher than that then the fan should go on.
if the temp goes higher than half that means something is wroing with the car. so as the guy said check the following.
1.coolant
2.see if fans work.
3. check the fan swiches
4. check for problems in the hoze. eventhough u won't see any coolant driping it don't mean the hoze is ok. it might have a little hole where air goes in the system and u loose preasure.(from experience and still haven't fix it yet)

also check the top of the radiator for cracks. the top of the radiator is plastic, and is known to crack. i just replaced mine last year because mine had a crack, and leaked coolant. but half way is, i think, right where the temp gauge should rest.
