break pedal loses pressure
car info: 92 accord lx 5 speed, no abs
when holding the break pedal at a stop it will loose pressure till it hits the floor and the hotter it is the worse it gets. the fluid is full so what would cause it to slowly loose pressure? pads, bad fluid, master cylinder?

How do your brakes feel otherwise? Does this happen after you did alot of stop and go.. Are is it all the time? What happens if you pump the brakes?
If it is all the time, then it is either air that is trapped in your system, or the master is bad. Usually, when master cylinders go, the pedal starts to feel spungy and then, after a while, you get what is called "extended travel". Your pedal goes slowly to the floor. If you pump it, it will increase in pressure, yet will go right back down.
If it does this only after you have hit the brakes a couple of times, then i would suspect that your brakes are either overheating (something is obstructing the air flow) or you have the wrong fluid in there?!?!?!

i had a 90 integra that did that. it would occasionally hit the floor, but otherwise the brakes worked fine. i never fixe the problem, but if i still had the car i would try bleeding the brakes.
installing it is easy. find one used at a junk yard.
to install, you have to unbolt it from inside the car at the brake pedal, and unbolt the brake lines that go to it outside of the car.

This is why you chould be careful who you listen too. This guy is an idiot, don't buy a master cylinder from the junk yard. How long has it been there? No good. Buy a new one from a parts store.
Then he doesn't know how to take it out, you don't unbolt it from the inside that's the brake booster bonehead. Everything is done from under the hood.
I hope you don't work on cars in my area because I am scared to go on the road.

that is the total truth. But sometimes, if you know what you are doing, you can buy a master cylinder from a junk yard. It all depends how old is your car and what replacement part can fit. example if you have a 1998 and the replacement is coming off a 2000. THen it is ok. In some parts of the country, it is prohibited to buy and install used brake components due to security. But then again, if you are going to keep your car for another 6 months or so, who cares.

stop acting like you know what you are talking about. for a car that is that old, buying parts from the junk yard or on ebay is just fine. if you have the money to waste, yea go ahead and buy a brand new one. otherwise, used ones are just fine.
and why not replace the brake booster along with the master cylinder?
you dumb canadian.

if you have a honda dealer nearby, go there. they can find the part number of yours, type it in, and see what other cars also use the same part number.

why not buy one for 40 bucks that is new and should come with a lifetime warranty (mine did from checker/kragen) ?
I replaced mine about 2 weeks ago, took me about 3 hours with everything, its a cinch to do...just make sure and get a 9 or 10mm nut flange wrench for the brake lines.
It sounds like thats your problem the MC
