Question about interchangeable head
I have a 1989 Civic LX that has been the best car I've ever owned.
Recently I've had problems with the head. To save a little money, I want to change out the head. I've had a burnt valve since about 200K miles.
How do I figure out which heads can be used? I have a 1500 engine. Engine Family ID: KHN1.5V5FCF5
I've seen several on eBay but they use numbers like D series head etc. I can do the work, I'm just not a true mechanic and don't know the lingo.
Thanks

Any SOHC head will bolt up from 88~99 except the JDM DOHC ZC head. I think the D16y8 after 99 gets air injection and that might be funky to deal with.
Find a local machine shop and take your head to them...they can clean up your head(rework the valves/seats, resurface and put new seals). It shouldn't cost more than arund $200-$250 to refresh your head.
