Default steering hose...disconnect

alright, so this is how i've been running my car. i took out the power steering pump. i looped the two small lines, but the big high pressure line that runs to the top of the pump, i just left that alone. so its not capped, not connected to anything. my steering feels fine, almost as simple as the power steering, but i was wondering if i could be drying out the rack...i figure that there has to be fluid still left in the rack, enough to lubricate it, because i dont think all of it shot up through the hose. what are your guys thoughts on this?

You should just remove all the hard lines and loop the in and out holes on the rack. People say it is a god idea to leave some fluid in the rack for seals and such, but the rack does not get lubricated be the ps fluid. The steering gears do not come in contact with ps fluid, they are lubed by grease. If anything, you should just cap off the open line so no debris can get it.
