intake manifold trouble, maybe (kinda long)
ok, this is most definately not my work on this car - but let me give you the lowdown on what i know about it. Ok, the car is a 93 civic CX, the motor is out of an 89 or 90 civic dx, which is bolted up to the cx tranny, he is running a dx or lx computer from 92-95, and was running the cx intake manifold and throttle body. now, the car was running fine before we tried to swap the intake manifold and throttle body. i had my 89 si manifold sitting around, so we put that on there with a prelude throttle body (also from an 89, which fits the intake manifold with all the proper openings lining up, so no problems there). Now, with this setup the car can not go wide open throttle or it stalls out. he can go maybe three quarters open and the car will go screwing along no problem. fuel pressure is 40, which is in the correct range, the map sensor has been changed to the one from the cx, the purge control solenoid has been changed to the cx one, and the throttle body has been changed between two different throttle bodies - i know the one that is on there now works properly, so it's not that. i have all the vaccum lines hooked up where they should be, all the sensors plugged in that need to be plugged in. We tried using the cx and the dx computer, same results. we are drawing a blank as to why wide open throttle will stall the car and make it bog - doesn't matter what rpm it's at either. any thoughts or ideas would help, thanks.
well, i am assuming he has the obdI injectors on the car, since the manifold came from the cx - i made sure i kept the obdI injectors in the car when we switched the manifold to the a6 manifold, so that shouldn't be a problem.
could the tps be obd specific? maybe i need to change the tps so the tps from the cx is on the other throttle body?
