Default Question about Master Cylinder swap

I have noticed the that brake pedal in my CRX Si has been slowly falling to the floor if I put much pressure on it. I especially notice this at autox's. I bled the brakes, but this did little to improve the problem.

My question is, after 170k miles, is the MC shot? Should I get the 15/16th MC mentioned in this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=364783 or should I go for the CRX MC? What size is the CRX MC?

TIA

I am already using Super Blue fluid and plan on getting Axxis pads. This isn't really upgrading the brakes, but I felt the firmer pressure would be useful in autox, which is why I got the CRX.

i stayed with the stock mc and have not had trouble with the autox or hpde's. those pads are going to make a noticable difference. make sure you bed them in properly. i just read a large article in sportscar magazine talking about how braking systems are designed with the proportioning valves specific for that brake setup. so increasing the mc ratio might cause easier lockup and premature pad and rotor wear. this was just an article mind you so you might want to im the guys that have done it and see what they think.

Ok, thanks for the advice. The only other consideration is the 1991 civic ex (15/16th) MC is a few bucks cheaper than the crx.

Does anyone know the size of the MC in the 1991 crx si? I really need to get a helms for this car next.

90-93 Integra MC and booster, big improvement in pedal feel.

It's either 7/8 or 13/16. You can see for yourself what it is by looking around on the master cylinder for the exact size numbers casted into it.

Why bother with the trouble of replacing the booster when all you have to do is trade out the MC with the sedan EX MC???? They are the exact same size MC's.... different bolt pattern, but still - the SAME size

Because the Integra has a bigger booster than the EX does.

Bigger MC = less travel pushes more fluid.

Bigger booster = less pedal effort to accquire more force.

I don't think you'll notice the diffence between the 2 boosters. It's pretty easy to press down the stock pedal. Adding a bigger MC isn't going to make it any harder to push. However, adding a larger booster can (and has in peoples cars) mess with your idle because you loose vacuum to the booster when you press the pedal down.

Also, you can use the old Prelude, 2.0 Si's MC. It bolts right up to our Booster, the 90-93 teg doesn't.
