Default Hyperfest-Charlotte (Lowes Motor Speedway)

I had a great time last year at the event. Is there anything going on this year there, and is there a date set?

Although we will not have a Hyperfest there, we may do a US Drift Competition and Practice Day there on August 28 combined with a Legends race. That is still tentative though.
You should drive up to Summit Point! It would be about 6 and1/2 hours from Charlotte which isn't that far!!!

Hardly ever any open dates at CMS - Lowes. They don't give a hoot about us road racin', wine & cheese types.

I could see that.

Ahh well, nothing good for month of august now, within 200 miles.

Actually, NASA-VA is able to get a track date there, but there are other reasons that we have doubts about it. It is very logistically difficult to run an event there, and turnout has also not been what we would have hoped. There are a lot of people who don't like to race or do an HPDE at Lowe's because of the concrete walls, and this has been reflected in the numbers of cars that register. We are still tossing around ideas like possibly a night Enduro race, but for right now everything is tentative.

Anybody else remember when the Hyper-Fester tried to run over Cobetto?

I remember that. I wasn't exactly scared silly, but it did give you things to wonder about.

Having to look out of your driver's side window to see where you're going on the banking is kind of neat. LOL...

Going onto the banking and coming off the banking is also very interesting for a less skilled driver. There's about a 1/2 second where you actually have to aim right at either a tyre barrier or a concrete wall in both places to do it fast, I seem to recall.

But...I'm not the best driver in the world. That could be 90% of it.

I do. If I remember that night, I was on a radio close to the infield parking when some kid in an Accord decided to do burnouts in the parking lot with people all around.

I called for Chris, he came running, and ended up getting just side-swiped by the rear quarter-panel of the Accord. The kid lit out fast. Security thought they caught him, but turns out it was the wrong Accord (the wrong one came on the truck with OPM).

My memory's not all that good, but that's as close as I can remember to it.
