Help me on a N/A B16 Build
After toying with boost and the reliability issues that come with it, i've decided to go N/A on my crx. What i'm striving for here is a decently quick n/a b16 that's reliable. Remember this will be my daily driver and i'm trying to save money as well! I was thinking something along the lines of:
CTR Pistons on stock rods
ACL Bearings
ARP Head studs
ARP Rod bolts
ITR Oil Pump
AEB's Intake Manifold
ITR Throttle Body
Stage 1 cam or Stage 2 cam w/ dual valve springs and retainers (really undecided here, recommendations please)
J's or AEM Intake
ANR Header
Greddy or equivelant 2.5 exhaust that's not ungodly loud
Hondata s100
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM FPR
and i'm unsure on which sized injectors to run
I just want something i can drive on the street every day, go to the track and run mid-high 13's and have 190ish hp. Reliability is the key issue here but i want it to be faster than your everyday b16 crx. I'm new to building a motor but i've read up alot but i would like to hear everyones opinions and suggestions. Also, i'm wanting to reinstall A/C, i have all the parts minus the Hasport bracket but will there be clearance issues with the anr header and if so what's recommended?
Thanks everybody

remember that ctr pistons give positive deck when you install them in a b16. also, ditch that pos AEM fuel rail. fuel rail doesnt do dick for performance.
also the headstuds are a waste of cash unless you're built to the gills with 13:1 or you're FI.
just buy a LS block, man.

so your saying i'm gonna run into piston/valve clearance issues with the ctr pistons? how would i go about avoiding this?
i've thought about doing the ls/vtec but i've already got a blown up b16 sitting in my garage that's torn apart, sitting on the engine stand waiting to be built.. no real sense in going out and getting an ls block when i've got the b16 sitting here since i'm not trying to make gobs of power
any more suggestions guys?

From: South LA...107th and fig to be exact...for the foo
you can do without the AEBS manifold too...stock type-r can make well over 200 whp the same goes for the injectors
A lot of people have ctr pistons in their motor...yeah its close but I haven't heard of anyone's piston hitting the valve when the valve opens
BIG power b16a?
pump gas.
reliable.
good torque.
kills type r's.
look no further.

anyone else wanna chime in? I'm seriously thinking about going with the stroked bottom end linked above. Any recommendations on work for the head? Thinking of maybe Buddy Club Spec III cams with ITR valve springs. Will the springs be strong enough for these cams if i only rev to like 8500?
if you only rev to 8500 your not getting use out of the buddy club cams.
go with a CTR cams, great midrange and unless your head is reworked your going to stop making power below your rev limit anyways.
that tech43 kit is NICE!!!
with the set up you have listed i would be suprised to see you get 180 without some good port work and a nice valve job.
