Default How much in labor shoud I pay to have Timing belt replace

"1997 Accord V6"

I bought the parts, water pump, seals, etc., but need someone to replace them for me. How much is a reasonable price and usually, how many hours does it take to replace them?

not sure about the V6, but labor is where the cost is at for one of these jobs. probably about 4-6hrs of labor, a ~$60 per hr should be a good guesstimate.

I'd say about the same for the labor 5-6hrs Flatrate. The problem is finding a shop that will put on the parts you bought, they will not want to offer warranty. It's not just a matter of them being greedy over the parts markup profit. The biggest nitemares can come from customer supplied parts. wrong parts, junk parts, parts that don't fit....etc. They may bump the flatrate.
I'm not faulting you, just giving you the info so you can be prepared.

yes good point. shops don't like that unless you are doing aftermarket stuff they don't sell which they may jack up the labor cost since they are not making money on the pars.

when regarding this topic my dad always says , "you don't bring you own food into a restaurant and tell them to cook it."

it shouldnt matter if you have ur own parts or not, labor is labor...yes they would obviously prefer you to buy the parts from them but they wont charge you more for labor...most shops charge at least $60/hr which is rediculous anyway

labor rates aren't too bad, it's the how they bill people. when they bill a 4 hr job by the book when it takes 2 hrs for any decent mechanic to do the job is where the money is at. then the markup they charge on parts is just ludicrous.
