Default Searched: ACT flywheel clutch... whats up with "225mm (220 stock)"?

I'm thinking a clutch/flywheel combo might do me some good so i started looking at some ACT stuff today. I have a JDM OBD1 engine with LSD tranny.

Do i need to be concerened with the o.d. of the stock flywheel/clutch before ordering? and how will a flywheel that is 5mm larger work with the starter?

TIA.

i just had the 12lb act flywheel installed on my h22a w/ m2b4, if it is 5mm larger than stock then i have not had any problems at all, but i cannot tell u for sure the flywheel i got was 5mm larger or the same size as stock, i just know its the flywheel for 4th gen lude(pretty sure 4th/5th gen accord and 4th 5th gen lude all use the same clutch/flywheel)

The ACT flywheel and pressure plate is the same size but the disc is larger since the mating parts will accomodate the larger disc. The Accord takes the same parts except already uses a larger disc. I don't know why Honda decided to use a smaller disc on the Lude. A larger disc will take more heat and torque than the smaller disc.

Woah.. from the ACTman himself..

yeah.. you'd think the prelude would have the same size clutch, if not, bigger.

THANKS.

Not likely since there is not much mass with the extra 5 mm of disc. Weight of the car has a lot to do with size of disc. I would guess that the Prelude is a lighter car than the Accord so they felt the larger disc was not necessary. Another good example where Honda did this is with the S2000 which has the same size clutch as the Civic D series if you can believe it. Of course the S2000 pressure plate has a lot more clamp load than a Civic in order to hold the power.
