im using gsr head bolts, i have gsr pistons in the b18b,and that'll give me a lil more compression, but i want a lil more compression close to 10, if i put 2 layer the c/r would be at 9.8, so do u think 2 layer is a lil safe? cause im not sure about 1 layer head gasket

You can just use a stock-style or a Mr. Gasket one and drill out the rivets & remove the inner (center) gasket piece of the 3-layer. It'll be fine, there shouldnt be any trouble whatsoever using a 2-layer on your application. I'm sure you know, but just be sure to use the head gasket for the b18b or b18a...you dont want one with a vtec oil galley in it.

I could be wrong, can't find a thread to verify, but I thought the GS-R studs were longer?

why not just do it right, buy some NEW B18B bolts or some ARP, you are not supposed to re-use head bolts, when they are torqued they are actually being stretched. I think spending the 100 bux for studs or 45 bux for new OEM bolts is CHEAP insurance for the possibilities of a blown gasket, cracked, warped head or block.

i decided to go with arp head bolts, but my other question is, when i put the head on, how do i set the timing? should i align the crank pully mark with the timing mark on the cover? and should i put the cams facing upwards?
