Default hardtop question.

My brother asked me about hardtops the other for an S, but i wasn't sure of the answer.

If he buys an 02 s2000, will a hardtop from an 01 fit the 02?

i was at hardtopguy.com and it looks like there are different years and fitments?

p.s. i also did a search on it, and only found where to buy it

indeed. it will just work.

the early 01's and 00's need a retrofit kit for the hard top to work.

the hardtops are sold as a set and the '01 and '00 cars weren't equipped for them. Hence the different part#'s b/c you need a retrofit kit for the '01 and '00 cars to fit the hardtop on them.

the '02 and up cars come prewired and set for any year hardtop.

np, cheers.

Btw, most honda dealers don't sell enough hardtops or don't sell them at all to know what's up.

I dont think the guys at the dealership knows anything. They'll just look in the computer and said ohh the 01, 02, 03 have different part numbers or so.

I hate them, they dont know jack unless they drive a S2k too.

Just what I think.

the 00 and 01 need new catchers, a defrost switch, and wiring for the hardtop to fit. they also need strikers as the originals were too soft. They were equipped for a hardtop IN A WAY as the wiring infrastructure had provisions for the defroster, just no switch and relay.

the 02 and 03 models needed a new driver side striker and a wiring extension, depending on the color. Some need nothing. the 04's are good to go from the factory I think.
