Default Will type r oil pump work w/ a 91 b18a

After reading some posts I saw that alot of people use vtec oil pumps for their ls/vtec and all motor ls swaps. Upon further research I noticed that the 91 ls oil pumps have two rotors and a cover that go inbetween the block and the pump. These rotors are absent on the 94+ vtec oil pumps. Will the newer oil pumps work with my ls or will I have to stick with the ls oil pump.
Here is a picture of the type r

and here is a picture of the 91 ls

my main concern is the rotors that are on the backside of the ls pump. the 94-95 pumps dont have those either. is that going to be a problem and what exactly do those rotors do?

Those are there in the picture so you can rebuild the old pump and not having to buy a whole new oil pump....

more on this, what exactly do you need to replace if you put a newer oil pump on a b18a? just the lower timing belt cover? also, would a 99 gsr windage tray and pickup work on a b18a?

The newer style oil pump will bolt to the block without any trouble. You will need a new lower timing cover, and I suggest getting the cover gasket as well (the old one will work if you cut it up, but ... ). This pump is cheaper than the 94-95 GSR pump. I think even with the new cover I still saved a few bucks.

You can use the tray and pickup if you have a block girdle and a GSR oil pan. It will bolt to the stock locations on the block.

I run all of these parts on my 91 B18A without problems.
