Installing the Mugen Sports Suspension
I'm going to be helping my brother install the Mugen suspension on his RSX-S soon. I have an ITR, so the suspension is a bit different. Does anybody have a link to a good suspension swap "how-to" for the RSX-S?
thanks!
thanks!
Go to clubrsx.com They have walk throughs on how to do nearly everything, minues turbos and stuff like that ofcourse. Thats where i got the tutoriol on how to install my stereo. I saw links for suspension too. Good luck
You're gonna need a tie rod puller to separate the tie rod from the shock body and then an alignment afterwards to set the camber and toe. Separating the tie rod end and putting it back in) are probably what will give you the most problems.
MacPherson front suspensions aren't my favorite thing to work on, especially when you compare it to Honda's double wishbone.

I'm not sure why I need a tie-rod puller. I certainly don't need one for my ITR (I know it is different) when swapping suspension. The installation guide at ClubRSX does not mention the need for the tool.... am I missing something? We will not be installing any camber kits.

Remember how Honda started switching over to a MacPherson suspension from the double wishbone for the fronts? The tie rod end connects to the strut now, not the knuckle.

Ah! thanks.
Ah! thanks.
You don't need a tie-rod puller. Just take off the castle nut, screw it on upside-down until the end of the nut is flush with the end of the bolt, then wack with a hammer. Comes off very easily that way.
Just beware of the front axles popping out of the tranny. That's the biggest PITA. Otherwise, pretty easy all the way around. Oh, and get an alignment ASAP because toe will be waaaay out.

I've tried hammering it before on an EP hatch and it didn't go very well. At best it damaged some threads, which ends up making the tightening of the nut harder when you go to put it back together.
It's never worked for me on any Honda, so I always have to resort to a puller.

This is probably the best rsx install thread that I know of. Hope it helps.
