Default b17a1 longevity

i have heard rumors that the rods are the weak link for this engine. i have heard one person claim that he knows first hand several of these engines have thrown a rod at 130-150k miles.

is there any legitimacy to this? with my DB2 sneaking up on 120k quickly i'm getting concerned.

should i be looking for a b16 replacement?

What you have to consider is that the newest B17's are now over a decade old and most of them have had the hell driven out of them for most of their existance. I won't say that they are any stronger or weaker than any of the other B series engines, however I will state that I've seen some seriously fast B17 powered cars.

well, i actually know this one has been pretty well taken care of

the only problem at this point is that it goes through about a quart of oil every 1500 miles.... with constant trips to VTEC. but, it shows no sign of burning oil.

hmmmm sell it to me for cheap

i have seen a b17 withstand the harshest driver on earth...this man can blow up an engine capable of holding upwards of 1000hp without even batting an eye.

Chad "engine blowing stunna" Slag the race car driver for R&D Motorsports
and on top of that the motor made almost 198WHP to the wheels!! now tell me a b17 isn't a good engine
