i just got CP forged pistons and rings. im wondering how hard it would be to install them without the ring compressor? i have access to a ring compressor but the guy that i can borrow it from broke 3 rings doing the install with it. im scared to use it now even though everywhere i go (including HT.com, honda dealer) says to use it. im on limited budget especially after paying 650 for a set of pistons/rings/eagle rods to break rings so i can buy more...i have nothing but time, so has anyone ever installed pistons without compressor?

 

A good ring compressor/proper use shouldn't break rings.

 

he's got one of those that snaps when u close it and i think it breaks the rings when it snaps.

 

Find someone who is comfortable doin it or being that you have time...try and save up and get it done from somebody. Better pay some money now then later when it will cost more and not to mention downtime.
