Default OT: A trip to my uncle's new house...JDM style (56k...maybe?)

Today we decided to take a trip to my unlcle's new house. Not much of a trip considering that he lives only 15 minutes away from me, but we got a whole caravan of relatives to head over there.

Here's a pic of my cousin's Renault, barely visible from my car window. We were all pulled over in front of the Landmark building (near Super Autobacs) in Yokohama waiting for my aunt to pull up.

Here's a pic of my uncle standing in front of his new Spanish style house. (still kinda under construction) I must say, it was pretty impressively huge for a house in Japan.

The view from the back yard...

My grandma catching the Tokyo Giants game with one of my cousins:

Here's some pics of the caravan parked in front of my uncle's house.

My R: the only Japanese car, (and we're in Japan)

My aunt's M series: (sorry..a bit blury)

My cousin's semi-automatic Renault. (again a bit blury)

my other cousin's PT Cruiser in the driveway:

And, My uncle's car...a 2003 Porsche Carerra:

So anyways, i'm sitting in the driveway drooling over this car like a starving child with a t-bone steak in from of 'em and my uncle walks up to me and says:

you like it?
and I say, Hell yeah!

And he goes, wanna go for a spin?
and I say, Of course I wanna go for a spin, stop asking stupid questions and get the damn keys!

So I'm ready to jump into the navigator seat and he hands me the keys and says, Bring her back in one piece..k?

My mom comes rushing up and says, are you nuts, thats a $100,000 car, don't give him the keys!!!
My uncle laughs and points to my car and says, if he can drive that, then he can drive this. I trust him!

So I took this car out to Kawasaki (about 7 miles away) and went on the expressway..dayam! this ****** is quick! The engine was a lot more refined and quieter than I am use to with my R, so it didn't feel like i was going so fast. But I noticed that the cars around me were passing pretty quick so I glanced down at the speedometer and I was shock to see that it was reading 210km/hr (roughly 130mph) and still accelerating really quickly. Yikes this car was too smooth!

My initial impression was that its pretty damn nice car BUT, I wouldn't want one now. The power of the Carrera is rated at 320bhp. My R is about 350-360bhp plus its a lighter chassis. I enjoy the rawness of my R a bit more the refined nature of the Carerra, but when I'm 50, this is something i definatelly will consider.

Yeah...my uncle has some weird obsession with the color pink...He was trying to buy a pink Carerra, but he would have had to special order one....so he bought a yellow one instead (thank god! )

The Porsche is LHD and LHD Porsches are very common...as a matter of fact I don't think I've ever seen a RHD porsche...All of the car listed above except my car are all LHD. For some reason my relatives like foriegn LHD cars as opposed to Japanese RHD cars

-I have no clue as to how much he paid for the house. I think the property alone is like $300K USD. The house is on top of a cliff that looks over all of Yokohama. We were looking to buy property there a few years back, but it was waaaay too expensive!

-Yeah its funny, I have 8 cousins. 7 guys, 1 girl...Only one of them drives a Japanese car (a Toyota Aristo) and he gets major flack for it. He's 4 years younger than me and he doesn't like sports cars. He prefers big Japanese VIP cars... His dad is the owner of the Carerra. Besides my uncle, I am the only other person to drive that car.

-That Porsche doesn't need a turbo. 320bhp from a 3.6L flat-six. I think a turbo would spoil it . Besides, this car has a tiptronic semi-auto tranny, so it wasn't too terribly racey. It was like driving a very fast family car. But it did feel nice none-the-less.

-TV setup was nice! I think its a 60 inch flat screen with 4 stereo surround-sound speakers. You can't see it in the picture, but there were 2 speakers behind me (the position of the camera) too.
