Default so how different are the f22a1 and the f22b2's?

I am just curious. I know the f22a1 is the prelude motor and the f22b2 is the accord motor. Both single cam non vtec right?

I have searched. I just need to know if they are pretty much the same so I can use my prelude helms for my bros accord.

Thanks for the help. Figured you guys here in the accord forum could help me out.

f22b1 is sohc vtec..f22b2 is sohc non vtec

f22a1 is different than the f22b2..same block different head...

f22a1 makes 135hp and 142 torque
f22b2 makes 130 hp and 139 torque

f22a1 has superior head compared to f22b2

there are alot of spec throwers in here...bleh...

If you're gonna do that could you please make sure you have correct info or make a note that you're not sure... dis-info spreads like wildfire...

Anyways... theF22A1/4/6 and the F22B2 are pretty damn similar... some differences in the head and the motor mounts... I would think you should be able to use the prelude f22a1 manual as a guideline for the f22b2, working around or dealing with any differences that might come up between the 2... but for things like EXACT tq specs I would be a little leery of using the f22a1 info...

If you'r mechanically inclined and have some experience wrenching you should be OK with the F22A1 info...

Yeah I ment the f22a1 is the prelude s model...my bad!

But yeah I am pretty mechanically inclined. I just built up my h23 vtec so I think I will use the f22a1 manuel and go with that.

All I am doing is the timing belt, water pump and stupid little **** like that. I just like having a back up there.

Thanks for all the info

Right...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but 3rd Gen ludes were 88-91 right? Am I just a shutin because I've never seen any F motor in a 3rdGen Lude? If anyone else has I'd love to see a pic...

and the F22A1 in the 4TH Gen Prelude S is the same "version" found in any 90-93 Accord... albeit with a different, more aggressive ECU...but still the same "version... whatever the hell that means...even though it's rated at an optimistic 135hp it's still an F22A1...

You re-read the posts above and see if you can figure out which ones are right and which are wrong...

just a little fyi, the better flowing head is due to equidistant intake and exhaust ports, dual stage intake manifold, and slightly different cam profiles.
