Default Where is the Idle switch or IVAC lcated on d16y7

My car is starting to have a rough or low idle when the engine is warmed up. It's floating around the 400 mark causing the car to vibrate. Can someone show me a pic of where the IVAC or the idle switch is. Thanks

The Iacv on a d16y7 is on the throttle body. Is your motor missing at all or is it just stumbling. What kind of rough idle are you experiencing?

It's not misfiring or anything. It's just that the idling at a light or when the motor is completely warmed up, idles really low. If I give it gas and let go of the accelerator really quick the rpm drops really low to like 200 rpm then raises itself back up again to 400 - 500 rpm. Can you tell me what causes this. Could it be the IACV. Also does anyone have a pic or a diagram of where the iacv is at.

it happens to a lot of cars.. like in my dseries i remember you could hold the revs at like 1000 and for a few seconds then let go and i guess the computer gets messed up for a second and it thinks your idle is at 1000 and when you let off it goes down to like 200ish then it fixes itself.. i dunno if thats it but it sounds like the same kinda thing but yea 400-500 is still low.. the IACV is on the back of the intake manifold. it is the biggest thing attached to it.. it is cylidrical and black.. and has one plug comming in th ebottom. hope this helps

i believe its that.. because there is a port that leads to the throttle body that allows air to come out for idle adjustment.. if you note what i circled you can see the little passage

Does anyone know if I have to take the intake box off to access the IACV. It looks really tight to fit my hand in there.

The IACV has coolant hoses leading to/from it....does the circled sensor have them??

Your car has had this idling 'problem' EVER since you've owned the car?

The answer to idling problems does not usually mean messing with the idle air bypass screw - you may have something else amiss.

I reseted my ecu a couple of times. How long or miles does it take for the car to relearn itself. Right now it's idling around 400 - 500 rpm. Thats the lowest I see so far. Better then before.

It's only got 49,000 miles on it. Oil change every 2,000 miles, Yeah I will try to take the iacv off and clean it

With 49k on the clock, you should have replaced the cap/rotor/plugs/wires and done a valve adjustment....have you? I'd first make sure the car is tuned up as this low idle could be a result from poor maintenance.

And you really don't need to remove the IACV; I have the same engine and after about 175k miles, my IACV finally froze up on me (from being dirty). After driving around for a minute to get the engine hot, I just used some throttle body cleaner sprayed directly into the IACV port....the 'fix' has been working like a champ for >25k miles now.

My idle, however, was never low like yours - when the IACV froze on me, my idle was sitting up at like 2k on a cold start then began hunting when the engine got warmer.
